Community Involvement

The Ferndale Heritage Society is very involved in our local community. Besides being the stewards of Pioneer Park, many of our members have taken lead roles in making Ferndale a great place to live and work.

Haunt The Park Event

HauntthePark IMG2782 300pxThe Heritage Society first joined in with the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce to host the first Haunt the Park event in 2015. This event gives families the opportunity to snoop around the historic haunted houses of Pioneer Park and trick or treat the cabin porches. In our inaugural year, 2015, we saw over 1,300 people through the gates of Pioneer Park, in 2016 it increased to over 2000. Visitors of all ages are welcomed to come down to Pioneer Park after the Downtown Trick or Treat concludes. Treats are passed out to visitors from six of the decorated log cabin porches by costumed members.

Plan on making this free community event part of your family's Halloween "safe" celebration.

Adopt-A-Highway Litter Pickup

Under the organization of Dick Mills, members of the Heritage Society meet the second Saturday of each calendar quarter, at 7:30am, in the Ferndale McDonalds Restaurant for a complimentary breakfast. This is in preparation for the task of picking up litter along the eight on/off ramps at exits 262 and 263 of Interstate 5. It's a wonderful site to NOT see unsightly trash as travelers enter our city.

Washington Department of Transportation requires AAH volunteers be age 17 or older for insurance liability purposes.

Current Ferndale community sponsors include McDonald's Restaurant, ACE Hardware, True-Value Hardware and Edaleen Dairy.

Donations are always welcome.
